Testimonials

We love hearing from everyone about how the dogs are doing...feel free to email us an update and we will happily add it to our "Testimonials"  page!  Below are few words from current Power Tripp owners...we are happy to provide more references upon request or please join us on the Power Tripp Group Site and chat with lots of folks that have a PT dog/puppy!

"I swear every single day I am making my own little testimonial in my mind as I watch and experience my little Karma at work. She is just the absolute best dog I have ever owned or met. Even people who don't like dogs at all, will fall in love with Karma pretty much instantaneous and ask me if they can keep her. I tell them there is quite a long waiting list already! There are even dogs out there who's owners tell me that their dog doesn't like other dogs or even play with other dogs, and the next thing we know that dog will be chasing Karma around the yard. The owner's were almost in tears, they were that happy and that shocked!!

The best word to describe her overall temperament is "docile" or "serene". Of course she's full of beans too (she's a border collie!) but her overall mood is content at every turn. She is very patient in the mornings while I am getting dressed & shoed up to go outside. She simply waits very patiently, sometimes even lying on her side dozing. (My previous dog used to go nuts, sulking, heavy-sighing and barking).

Karma has an extremely playful personality. She truly believes her job in life is to play and enjoy herself! She is very diligent in her work and plays every single chance she gets!! Her favorite toy is frizbee, but a close second is squeaky rubber toys. (The louder the better). She is an amazing frizbee catcher!! Karma was born with wings & springs and she can jump easily 4-5 feet to catch them. People even stop in the park to watch her. I shout out "Star Power" when she makes an amazing catch. She IS a star, what can I say??

At first I was embarrased, but now I am down-right proud to say that Karma has not had any formal obedience training. She walks off leash and stops at corners and intersections, waiting for us to catch up. Then she'll sit until we say "ok cross cross" then she will. We took our 1st dog Whiskey to obedience training and thought we'd teach Karma what we learned from that experience, and see what happens. I just signed Karma up for "apparatus" at the Wolfman's (our former dog obedience trainer's facility), and he was amazed at how well behaved she is! She is loving apparatus so far and comes home absolutely pooped. She is also a VIP at the "puppy parties" he has every Sunday. Karma is soooo good that we stay for both the smaller dog party and the larger dog one. Last weekend, she was playing with a little mini chiwawa named "Muchacho". His owners were so happy to see their dog able to play with one that won't hurt him. Karma was so gentle, rolling over on her back so he could jump up & get her!! Muchacho found his match!!

Karma loves children and even gets tweaked when she hears cartoons on the TV (the high-pitched child-like voices?). She is BFF (best friends forever) with our 3-1/2 year old nephew, Mason. She is captivated by him and follows him around everywhere. She'll sit and study him as he plays in the sand. We even do conga-lines around the coffee table with Karma leading the way. I'm not sure who is having more fun?! Me, the kid or the dog?

Meeting you Kim has been truly a godsend. I was in a deep depression when Whiskey died and was uplifted when I found you online and we made contact. It was so special to see our puppy at two weeks old and hold her in the palm of one hand. Then to see her with her littermates again at 4 weeks was totally memorable too!! (that cute little drunken puppy stage). After much contemplation, I now believe the difference between Whiskey and Karma is the breeder and how the puppies were raised. All I know about Whiskey, was that her mother was a working dog on a dairy farm and lived in a barn. Karma came from a home filled with love and affection. She loves to give kisses just as much (or more?) than her Daddy Tripp. She kisses people she has never even met yet! I laugh to myself when they say "i think your dog likes me" (meanwhile, she LOVES everybody! No exclusions!!).

I will never forget the day we picked Karma up from your home, Kim. You told us "Karma was the most relaxed of the bunch" and for a border collie, that is a good thing! Perhaps that is why I deem her so docile and serene. She requires a ton of exercise and attention and between my brother Mark & I, we fulfill her needs happily!! She is the absolute perfect dog for us. I don't know what your magic ingredient or secret is for knowing this, but Kim you've got it girl!! Karma is truly meant to be our dog. I could not speak a more truer statement. She is simply the one for us.

You have done an amazing job and we feel we owe you the world Kim. Because of you, we have Karma. She adds so much joy and happiness to our every day. Life will never be quite the same again.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done. You've changed our lives for the better and we are grateful to you every single day! there is nothing I wouldn't do for you, as you have done so much for us!"

Kind regards, Patti Heideman ('Karma', Dru X Tripp)

"Well the best way to describe Gladys, is just this; she is the best thing that has happened to us; after losing Ivy Sue, we thought we would never recoup from the heartbreak. There are so many characteristics Gladys shares that Miss Ivy had, we are convinced finding Kim’s website, was a blessing and we are forever grateful and in her debt for the love and happiness Kim has put back into our home with such a beautiful addition to our family. She without a doubt was a perfect fit to our family; it seems as though Gladys picked up where Ivy had left us, with her gentleness, loving way, that makes everyone fall in love with her. Glady’s is such a big part of our family we just can say enough wonderful things regarding the demeanor and personality of her, thanks to Kim & Peter’s knowledge and continuing education with the Border Collies, we are ecstatic about her personality. We were a bit worried at first with Gladys being the only pup in the litter...But thanks to Kim’s expertise and knowledge she is kind, gentle, and very loving-not only with members of her family, but with friends and especially children."

"We love Kipp. Every day, at least once I hear or say, that's the best dog ever. I hear it from the kids, the neighbours and the people in the park and just about anybody she comes in contact with. As for training, Kipp is doing a good.  She almost has us trained. There is absolutely nothing to it, when we, (the people) figure it out. The training school that we attend said it was not fair to the other dogs to bring a Border Collie to class. Kipp is top of the class.
On the down side, she may need speech therapy. Just this morning the kids ask her if she wanted to go for a walk, and the kids swear the dog said, "a rove woo". We are working on the "L"'s and "U"'s.  Can I get 10 more, we are getting a bigger house.... don't tell Katie. Thank you."

John Clark and Family, Toronto, ON ('Kipp', Risk X Sara)

"I'm being completely honest when I say that you did not just sell me a dog, but you gave me an angel. Lola, or Little Lollipop, as she's known, is the darling of my neighborhood. Kids ring the doorbell everyday to ask if they can play with her. At eight months old, I can take her anywhere with me off leash and trust that she will stay by my side. When I throw the disc for her in the park, people walking by stop to watch and ask about her. she brings a smile to everyone's face.

She is without fear, without any nervousness, and without any reservation, one of the top dogs in her agility classes. Of course, that's when she isn't being the class clown. Her focus and dedication during training amazes me every time. I've never had a dog so eager to learn and so much fun to train. Presently, besides agility and disc, Lola and I are working on The Canine Good Neighbour Program as well as perfecting her tricks for a future doggie freestyle dance routine.

I am so happy with my PowerTripp puppy and to be part of the PowerTripp family! I'm looking forward to the Puppy reunion in September and meeting in person some of the wonderful dog owners that I've gotten to know through the videos, pictures, and blogs that we all share with each other. I would take a second Risk puppy in a heartbeat. (hint hint)"

"Perhaps the three most important elements in raising good puppies are: A true love of dogs; a respect for the dogs that manifests itself in the careful selection of mates; and the dedication to a breeder's responsibility for the importance of the initial after birth care and screening of the applicant's for the pups.

With Quinn, his character seems to be so similar to Dru's that he has made himself welcome with whoever meets him. It is only after people have come to know him, that we hear how skeptical they were about Border Collies. No doubt, those horror stories were the outcome of breeders who lacked integrity and whose main goal may have been money. It has always been apparent that the dogs came first with Kim and this has been reflected in the character of all the puppies.

Another aspect of Kim's care and interest is the selection or screening of potential owners. We have owned dogs and never gone through the qualification that Kim insists on. The success of her efforts is reflected in the reunion's that Kim has held. I've never known another breeder to go to all this work, but it is a followup process that Kim believes in. For us, the amazing thing is how nice all these people are. This confirms Kim's efforts and shows a dedication that I have never seen anywhere else.

At every turn, Kim has done more than I have ever seen or heard of. We were allowed, no, actually encouraged to see the puppies as they developed. What a treat. Something I have never experienced before. Also, this helped the puppies to be socialized and we, the owner's, benefited greatly from this. As near as I can tell, all the puppies socialized well and it is unbelievable to watch them interact.

Thanks Kim. Many times you have helped us and you can't image how important that has been for us and it never seems to stop. We learned a lot about frisbee and it is really working. We are grateful and happy, but Quinn is delighted.

Take care. The hard part is to limit the singing of your praises."

'Easy' (Shiner/Tripp) is my heart dog and makes me smile no matter what kind of day I am having. He has an easygoing, fun-loving personality and loves to learn. He also is very affectionate, wiggly, squeaky, cuddly, and smiley. His natural aptitude for agility, his athleticism, his desire to 'get it right' and his biddability have made him such a fun agility partner for me! And he is talented on sheep as well, he is very strong-eyed and intense, so we will be pursuing that. He is also an incredible natural disc dog, leaping as if he is on springs with all four feet off the ground to catch discs very high in the air. We go hiking and swimming every day. Easy's greatest love, after me, is water and he goes into a joyful trance state when swimming--it's hard to describe it!Easy has been my assistant in classes and lessons and is featured in my training book and dvds. What can I say, he is my partner in everything. When I heard that Shiner from Quicksilver kennels was being bred to Tripp, I knew that I needed to have a puppy from that litter. I wanted a snuggly, driven, highly intelligent and happy dog that would be not only a great training partner but also a great companion, and that is what I got. Thanks, Kim.

I LOVE my Tripp/Shiner Girlie Bekah aka Quicksilver True Blue, NA, NAJ. I waited 3 years for this puppy to be born. Deb picked the "PERFECT" Dad for this litter ! I wouldn't trade her for any puppy she is a wonderful combination of talent, drive & personality. Bekah is a worker yet will sleep on your feet when watching tv or reading and is always happy.

"We have 2 amazing dogs from PowerTripp!!

Our story and connection with Kim began well over 2 years ago. We were new to the world of Border Collies at the time, and found Kim through research on the internet. We then started writing to her with various questions and later we met Kim at a Flyball tournament and found she was who we wanted to deal with from both a comfort level and a knowledge level! What also impressed us about Kim was that we knew she was taking the time to assess Janet and I, to make sure we were really willing to take the time, attention and love required to take care of a Border Collie, the sign of a conscientious Breeder!

We soon made arrangements to take home a puppy from the Dru X Tripp litter. Once the puppies were born, Kim let us into her home on a regular basis. We were able to watch and experience our little Breeze growing up right from the start of her life.

The day we took home Breeze was a life changing moment for Janet and I. We went from being non-dog owners to having this great little girl in our lives who we could love and who would love us right back! Breeze adapted very quickly to her new environment. She was playful, very smart to pick up commands and was an obedient dog who was very social. We continued to socialize Breeze right from 7 weeks old and it really payed off. She loves to play with all dogs, big and small, kind, and even rough and tumble. Most of all she likes to play with dogs that run, run and do more running. She is quite the watchdog.(nothing can come close to the house without her noticing). She is also fully crate trained and Kim helped this along by having a crate introduced to the litter before we took Breeze home. This dog has real personality. There is nothing boring about her!!

When we took Breeze home we were not sure whether we wanted to enter Breeze into any organized Sports activities but after watching how much fun the Sports dogs have, we couldn't resist. So now Breeze is almost ready to compete in Flyball and also is very good at disc and we soon hope to have her competing in Disc.

We couldn't be more happy with Breeze!!

Now for dog number 2....

By this time we knew Kim quite well and were working with her to get one of her beautiful puppies from an upcoming litter which turned out to be a litter from Sara X Risk. We wanted a male to compliment our little female dog and Boone turned out to be the dog!

Boone is quite the boy. He is extremely obedient and smart. He is very easy going and easy to care for. And what a nice looking dog too....a rare Blue and White border collie!! Boone also is very well socialized and is crate trained. He is now 9 months old and is already doing well in Disc and currently training in Flyball. Boone is a joy to have and is a very good compliment with his very easy going nature, to Breeze who has the feisty but friendly personality. Boone is such a snuggler and loves affection anytime, especially while watching T.V. where he will lie down next to us and just enjoy relaxing and receiving our petting attention!  We also camp and hike with both dogs. They are so much fun in a nature environment and excel on the trail. They are great off leash and come back on command when called.
Both Dogs are absolutely incredible and we would not trade where we are for anything and we have Kim to thank for really helping us out in the world of Border Collies. Her advise is invaluable and she is always willing to help out. She has connected us to other Border Collie owners and she has referred us to top trainers who are great in helping us and our Dogs. Kim, we thank you sincerely for everything and for the positive change in our lives with 2 of the most beautiful dogs on the planet!! We can't remember what our lives were like before our border collies."

Kim Siemens is an outstanding breeder, not only because of her breeding choices and selection of potential owners, but because of her unrivaled love of dogs! One only has to see Kim wih her large brood of dogs to witness the mutual love and respect between them. The fact that she took in the beautiful, deaf Joe Pye and has trained him with hand signals is another indication of her special bond with the canine world. We love our beautiful border collie Cody (born October 30, 2005) Kim has given us outstanding support (thank you for looking after Cody when we were in Florida twice!). Kim has also become a wonderful resource when we have been asked to find homes for various dogs in need of homes. She never lets us down! We can't think of a more caring person and we would not only highly recommend Kim as a breeder, but if we ever wanted to add another border collie to our family, Kim would always be our first and only choice. We also think of Kim as our own personal dog whisperer!

"When we first considered adopting a border collie, we realized we needed to do our homework since it would be our first experience with the breed. We contacted a number of breeders via e-mail to ask for suggestions on books and other resources to help us learn more about the specific challenges of working with this very intelligent and demanding, but also rewarding, breed.

"Kim Siemens at Power Tripp was the only breeder who responded to our request, and she was wonderful. Kim not only directed us to books but also answered our many, many questions - long before we decided to apply to adopt a pup from her Tripp-Sara litter, born in March of 2007. When we met her pups and older dogs we were immediately impressed by how well behaved and how calm they could be, which gave us further confidence that we could manage a border collie ourselves.

"Since bringing home our pup in May, we have had dozens of questions and Kim has been terrific about answering them, and putting us in touch with other experienced border collie owners in the greater Toronto area. We not only added a wonderful dog to our family, but have added a friend and great source of help and information, too. We highly recommend the Power Tripp experience to anyone looking to adopt a border collie!"

Before adopting my Border Collie, Shaq, in 2005, I did my homework.

I wanted a dog that could complement my active life style. I read books, searched the net, talked to people who lived with border collies, but nothing prepared me for this amazing genius.

Shaq is an offspring of Tripp and Shadow, two absolutely gorgeous animals. I had the fortune of meeting Shadow, 3 days after she has her puppies (Shaq included). What beautiful temperament. (Of course, she brought the tennis ball to me as soon as I arrived). I met Tripp a year later at fly ball training and he mesmerized me, not just with his looks, but mostly with his gentle temperament.

Shaq not only inherited Tripp’s captivating looks, but also his natural athleticism, amiable temperament, attentiveness and extreme focus. A well socialized dog, with boundless stamina, endurance and constant desire to please. His beautiful mind and vast capacity to learn, challenge me daily. He is my constant companion, whose eyes never leave me. He goes to work with me daily- Long Term Care Facility in Hamilton, where he entertains the residents and staff with his antics.

Shaq’s love for flyball, agility and swimming keeps me busy 4 days a week. I could never have imagined how much joy this little dog could bring. He is excellent with children, elderly, as well as other animals.

I only have one regret – not exploring this breed earlier.

Thank you Kim (Tripp and Shadow) for such a gift.

Bauer Power is an amazing border collie, especially in terms of his personality. He is extremely friendly (always wanting to meet new friends – either dogs or humans) and very dedicated to pleasing us. He is one smart puppy with lots of energy and we are excited to start diving into sports with him.

We have long been interested in the border collie breed. Their intelligence, drive and companionship have attracted us to them for many years. However, we were hesitant at first to adopt a border collie because we were uncertain as to whether this breed would suit our lifestyle. We do not live on a farm with sheep to be herd and work outside of the home; therefore, unsure as to whether this breed would make for a good family pet. When we met Kim and her dogs we were thrilled to learn that our hesitations were merely misconceptions. In fact, she showed us that border collies make GREAT family pets. Visiting Kim in her home gave us the opportunity to witness, first hand, how well socialized and trained ALL of her dogs are. As well, she is always professional, knowledgeable, and readily available to give us assistance with any questions or concerns we may have – or just to chat about how wonderful our Bauer is! We can’t thank you enough for everything! Bauer has certainly brought our entire family much love and delight!

I am thrilled that I had to wait as long as I did to get a puppy! I am so happy with Heist, especially his personality (apparently a trait from his dad?) and with the potential that he's holding. I have been emailing breeders on and off for the past 5 years looking for another dog, something that could be my "project". I am excited to be introduced to both the Border Collie and the Beardie world and the people that come with it. He is loved by everyone he meets and loves them just as much. He is my shadow, my second best friend (Pepper will always be #1), my excuse (to get out of things I dont' want to do... "Sorry, got the puppy, I can't make it") and my future in training. And when it's that time...far far down the road when I can fill my own home with as many dogs as I want, I'll be back for sure. I get to live with a little bit of both right now...I might find a passion for either breed. Thanks Kim!
Emily Skinkle, Belleville, ON ('Heist', Fable X Tripp)

We love our girl by Tripp – we named her flare – she is a beautiful thing! What an awesome temperament!!! All of the pups from this litter are outstanding!! This is the best litter I have ever raised...That is why we are coming back to your boy again in the future! It is so awesome that 4 of the 7 are in flyball homes, 2 others in awesome high profile agility homes.
Bonnie Klonowski, Chagrin Falls, OH ('Flare', Tripp X Abbey)

Our experience with Kim Siemens and Power Tripp has been excellent throughout... from ensuring our appropriateness as Border Collie owners, to thoroughly understanding our desires and plans for a dog, to providing a handsome and lovable puppy with a positive temperament and continued support with the dog.

Sandra and David Goffin, Woodlawn, Ontario ('Malley', Tripp X Sara)

Vash is my first dog so you can only imagine some of the comments people made when I told them I was going to get a border collie as my first. They basically thought I was crazy and had no clue of what I would be getting myself into. But I did my homework and in the end still strongly believed a border collie was right for me. I have never regreted that decision and feel so happy and lucky to have a wonderful dog like him in my life. He is definately high energy, but has been refered to being a "true" border collie. One of the reasons why I chose a border collie was because I wanted a dog that was high energy, has a high level of trainability and someone I could have lots of fun with in a wide range of activities. . It's been a great 3 years with Vash so far, and I look forward to the many more years he will be around and all the adventures I am sure we will have. The only thing with owning a border collie is that you will probably never want to own another breed of dog. I just know, after having Vash in my life that I will always want to have a border collie around.
